Hanni Schwab
Hanni Schwab (born November 24, 1922 in Kerzers , † April 28, 2004 in Freiburg ) was a Swiss archaeologist .
Life
From 1956 Schwab studied prehistoric archeology at the University of Bern and received her doctorate in 1967. From 1962 to 1987 she was a cantonal archaeologist in Freiburg. Hanni Schwab built up the archaeological service of the canton of Friborg and headed it from 1967 to 1987. With the settlement of Châtillon-sur-Glâne and the oppidum on Mont Vully, she discovered two sites of international renown. In March 1962 she was appointed archaeologist for the second Jura water correction .
1971-81 she served as Freiburg CVP - Gross Councilor , 1974-86 as General Councilor of Freiburg (legislative).
Hanni Schwab was the author of over 170 publications and various specialist books on archeology in the canton of Friborg.
In 1984 she won the Deutschfreiburger Kulturpreis and in 1992 she was made an honorary member of the Swiss Society for Pre- and Protohistory .
