Hannoversches Tageblatt

1865: The Hannoversche Tageblatt as "General-Anzeiger for the Kingdom of Hanover "

The Hannoversches Tageblatt (HT) was founded in 1852 (possibly as early as 1851). It embodied the type of Generalanzeiger , which was not close to any political direction, but was primarily committed to commercial success. The HT consisted of news, entertainment and advertisements expressly "for the educated classes" and, in contrast to the partisan newspapers, was entirely geared towards the city of Hanover and its surrounding area.

From 1863 to 1940 the daily newspaper was owned by Schlüterschen Verlagsanstalt . Until the end of the Weimar Republic , the Hannoversche Tageblatt was the daily newspaper with the highest circulation after the Hannoversche Anzeiger : from 27,000 copies in 1893 the circulation rose to 75,000 in 1932, but then fell to 54,500 by the end of 1933.

During the National Socialist era , the Hannoversche Tageblatt was spared warnings and bans.

Courier day sheet

On October 11, 1941, the newspaper was merged with the Hannoversche Kurier to form the Kurier-Tageblatt . The Kurier-Tageblatt was last published on August 31, 1944 and then, like the Hannoversche Anzeiger and the Niedersächsische Tageszeitung , was included in the Hannoversche Zeitung .
