Hanns-Heinz Nissen
Hanns-Heinz Nissen (* 1905 in Hamburg-Bergedorf ; † 1969 in Berlin-Dahlem ) was a German opera and concert singer (baritone).
Life
Nissen received his training in Hamburg and then in Berlin, mainly from Hugo Strelitzer .
He made his debut at the Opera House in Breslau in 1932 and then worked for 35 years at the Deutsche Oper Berlin , interrupted by guest appearances in Western Europe. He mastered an extensive repertoire ranging from Mozart , Richard Wagner , Richard Strauss to contemporary composers. He was awarded the title Kammersänger and in 1967 the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon for his services to the reconstruction of the Deutsche Oper after the Second World War .
Just four months after the end of the war, opera with Ludwig van Beethoven's Fidelio , in which he sang Pizarro, was resumed in September 1945 in the Städtische Oper (an alternative location until the wrecked womenswear reopened in 1961).
Hanns-Heinz Nissen's grave is located in the Zehlendorf forest cemetery in Berlin.
His daughter Geertje Nissen also became a singer.
