Hanns Conzen (* October 1918; † September 10, 2010 in Hürth ) was a German architect and local politician . He worked as the head of the construction department of the Rheinbraun company and was honorary mayor of Hürth from 1965 to 1979.

politics and society

Nothing is known about Conzen's childhood, youth and training. He returned home from Soviet captivity at the age of 30, i.e. in 1948/1949, and immediately joined the CDU . From 1952 to 1984 he sat on the local council and was elected mayor in 1965 as the successor to his party friend Karl Ingenerf . He held this office until the local elections in 1979, which the SPD won again for the first time and Rudi Tonn was elected mayor.

As an architect, he was particularly politically involved in the resettlement of Knapsack and the planning for the new center , after which he was able to receive the town elevation certificate in 1978. Even after being voted out of office, he remained one of the most important city council members.

Conzen was involved in many associations, especially in the Heimat- und Kulturverein, which he already joined in 1963, and was its deputy chairman for three years before he was elected chairman in 1985. He held this office for eight years until 1993, when he was appointed honorary chairman. During the carnival he was involved in the Great Knapsacker Carnival Society from 1935 , of which he was president from 1981 to 1993. He was also a co-founder of the small Hürth Friday Society , which was founded on August 3, 1956 in Geisbockheim by 16 conservative-minded citizens of the Hürth community. The charter with the names on a beer mat has been preserved.
