Hanns Floerke

Hanns Floerke (born March 25, 1875 in Weimar ; † 1944 ) was a German art historian , writer, translator and editor.

Life

Hanns Floerke was the son of the writer and art historian Gustav Floerke . Before 1914 he lived as a private scholar in Munich, after 1933 he was publishing director and board member of Albert Langen / Georg Müller Verlag .

He was the author of art history works, translator and editor of numerous works of world literature, especially from French and Italian, also from Latin and Greek (such as Lucian of Samosata ). The second series of the book series Classics of Antiquity , which was first published by Georg Müller Verlag, then by Propylaea , was published by him.
