Hanns Herzing
Hanns Herzing (born March 6, 1890 in Dresden ; † February 17, 1971 there ) was a German painter. He was best known for his high mountain views.
Life
Hanns Herzing became a student at the Art Academy in Dresden. Gotthardt Kuehl and Carl Bantzer were among his teachers . He became a master student with Eugen Bracht . In 1925 he traveled to Switzerland, where he stayed for several years. On his return he lived his last years in the GDR. He had his studio in Niederpoyritz , Staffelsteinstrasse. 31 . He was a member of the art association "Schaffender Künstler".
Herzing died in Dresden in 1971. His grave is in the cemetery in Dresden- Hosterwitz .

In the years 1924/25, two colossal paintings were created in the waiting room of the main train station in Dresden , which were destroyed in the bombing on February 13, 1945. Matterhorn in the mirror of the Riffelsee , which was distributed as a reprint on postcards, became his best-known paintings .
He left mainly mountain and high mountain paintings , which he exhibited in several studio exhibitions on the subject of mountain landscape . The Dresden photographer Walter Hahn photographed most of his works . The photographs are now part of his estate.

In 1971 Margarethe Herzing sold Hanns Herzing's estate to the Saxon State Library in Dresden , where it is still kept today. The inventory was supplemented by a gift from the library director Hans Hoffmann.
Honors
Today a plaque commemorates the artist on his former studio in Niederpoyritz.
