Hans-Alexander Drechsler

Hans-Alexander Drechsler (born October 26, 1923 in Danzig ; † March 27, 2002 in Uelzen ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

Drechsler attended elementary school and later the Conradinum and the Kronprinz-Wilhelm-Realgymnasium in Danzig / Langfuhr. He passed his Abitur and began his studies at the Technical University of Gdansk in 1943. From 1944 until the end of the war in 1945 he was a soldier in the Second World War and was seriously injured after being wounded.

After the end of the war, he began working as a post office worker for the Deutsche Bundespost. Between 1960 and 1963 he attended the Administration and Business Academy in Lüneburg .

Drechsler was an assessor at the Federal Disciplinary Court in Berlin and between 1957 and 1965 chairman of the German postal union in Uelzen . He was also a board member of the DGB state district of Lower Saxony between 1969 and 1975. Since 1970 he was a member of the Broadcasting Council of the North German Broadcasting Corporation and of the Supervisory Board of North German Advertising TV. He was appointed a member of the supervisory board of Power Supply Ost-Hannover GmbH.

Career

In 1949 he joined the SPD. In 1962 Drechsler became chairman of the sub-district Uelzen, Lüchow-Dannenberg and was a member of the SPD district executive in Hanover from 1972 to 1980. Drechsler has been a councilor since 1957, became an alderman in 1960 and ultimately mayor of the city of Uelzen from 1979 to 1981 . Since 1956 he was also a member of the district council. Between 1964 and 1976 he was deputy district administrator and between 1964 and 1979 he was elected parliamentary group chairman of the SPD district parliamentary group in the Uelzen district.

Drechsler was elected a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament in the fifth to tenth electoral terms from May 20, 1963 to June 20, 1986. He was chairman of the committee for public service law from September 14, 1970 to June 20, 1974. Between June 15, 1974 and June 20, 1978 he was chairman of the committee of rules of procedure. From October 6, 1978 to June 20, 1986, he served as Chairman of the Penal Enforcement Subcommittee of the Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs.

Awards

Drechsler has been awarded the Order of Merit 1st Class of the Federal Republic of Germany .
