Hans-Christian von Reibnitz

Hans-Christian Freiherr von Reibnitz (born April 21, 1960 in Athens ) is a German diplomat .

Life

Von Reibnitz completed a law degree from 1979 to 1985 and passed the first state examination in 1985 and, after completing his legal preparatory service, the second state examination in 1988.

In 1989 von Reibnitz joined the Foreign Service and, after completing the preparatory service for the higher foreign service and the career test from 1990 to 1992, was initially employed at the headquarters of the Foreign Office and then between 1992 and 1995 at the embassy in Turkey . From 1995 to 1999 he was head of the branch office of the Embassy in Nigeria in Abuja and after his return he returned to the Foreign Office in Berlin in 1999, where he was deputy head of department between 2000 and 2003 .

From 2003 to 2006, von Reibnitz was the ambassador's permanent representative in Cyprus and was then seconded to NATO in Brussels between 2006 and 2009 , where he was installed as deputy head of cabinet in the office of NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer . After his return, he was head of division in the Foreign Office between 2009 and 2010 and then head of transition in the office of the High Civil Representative of NATO in Afghanistan from 2010 to 2011 , before completing language training at the Foreign Office between 2011 and 2012.

In September 2012, von Reibnitz became ambassador to Oman and thus successor to Angelika Renate Storz-Chakarji , who in turn became ambassador to Qatar . He held this office until 2017.
