Hans-Dieter Grabher (born April 5, 1947 in Lustenau ) is an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ) in the state of Vorarlberg . From 1993 to 2010 he was mayor of the market town of Lustenau, from 1984 to 1993 regional councilor in the Vorarlberg regional government and from 1982 to 1992 regional party leader of the FPÖ.

Political activity

Grabher was a member of the state parliament for the FPÖ in the Vorarlberg state parliament before he was elected regional party chairman of the FPÖ in 1982. From May 16, 1984, Grabher replaced his party colleague Karl-Werner Rüsch, who had left the state government, as state councilor. In the state governments of Purtscher I and Purtscher II, Hans-Dieter Grabher subsequently worked as a regional councilor for spatial planning and building law, road construction, building construction, hydraulic engineering and agricultural engineering. On October 6, 1993, he was replaced by the later Austrian Vice Chancellor Hubert Gorbach .

Grabher then devoted himself from September 30, 1993 to the office of mayor of the market town of Lustenau, taken over by Dieter Alge (FPÖ). He held this office for more than 16 years before announcing in the run-up to the municipal council and mayoral elections in Vorarlberg in 2010 that he was no longer available for any further candidacy. Ernst Hagen succeeded him as the leading candidate of the Freedom Party in the election . However, he could not reach the office, so Kurt Fischer of the ÖVP Grabher's successor as mayor.

On April 27, 2010 Hans-Dieter Grabher received the Silver Medal of Honor of the State of Vorarlberg, and on October 26, 2011 he was made honorary citizenship of Lustenau.
