Hans-Georg Evers (born August 27, 1964) is an aquarist , non-fiction author and editor-in-chief of the aquarium magazine "AMAZONAS" until 2018 .

Evers mainly travels to South America and Asia to discover new fish and import them for breeding. He has so far brought about 350 species of fish, many of them for the first time. The species Oryzias eversi , a rice fish from Sulawesi and Corydoras eversi , a short- snouted armored catfish from the area of ​​the Rio Araguaia , Brazil, were named after their discoverer.

Evers has written hundreds of specialist articles and ten books, some as a co-author, mainly on South American catfish . From September 2005 to January 2018 he was editor-in-chief of the freshwater aquaristic specialist magazine "AMAZONAS", which is published every two months by Natur und Tier Verlag . He also works as a speaker.

Hans-Georg Evers lives and works in Hamburg.
