Hans-Georg Lotz
Hans-Georg Lotz (born October 24, 1934 in Gießen ; † April 20, 2001 in Hamburg ) was a German composer .
After completion of music studies Lotz was in 1962 already professor of piano at the Conservatory of Hamburg had become a lecturer in music theory, 1976 Lecturer, 1990 professor of set theory and ear training at the Hamburg Academy of Music .
Stylistically, his compositions cannot be assigned to a specific school. After initially following the style of Bartók and the Second Viennese School, he remained open to a wide variety of suggestions, but the aspect of the rhythmic and the formation of color and sound surfaces (in contrast, for example, to row techniques and the traditional understanding of intervals and chords) ) crystallized out.
His work essentially comprises choral music as well as chamber and solo compositions. In addition, he published numerous essays and musicological works.
The evangelical hymn book (EG) contains the penitential song O Lord, written and composed by Lotz in 1964 , take our guilt we burden ourselves with under number 235.
