Life

Hans-Jürgen Beich, son of a master roofer from Jarmen , was a civil engineer by profession. He was a member of the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (GDR) and was a member of the district executive of his party in the Demmin district before the fall of the Wall and the peaceful revolution in the GDR . In November 1993 he was elected chairman of the CDU district association Demmin.

In 1994 Beich was elected district administrator for the Demmin district. From August 1999 the public prosecutor's office and the state audit office of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania were investigating against him on suspicion of breach of trust , taking advantage of the office and inaccuracies in the award of public contracts . The investigation led to Beich's suspension from duty. On August 1, 2000, he took early retirement for health reasons. Because of his serious illness, the lawsuit against him had to be interrupted or rescheduled several times. The clarification of the allegations against him was prevented by Beich's death a few days after the fourth restart of the main hearing.
