Hans-Jürgen Kirsch (born July 14, 1960 ) is a German economist .

Scientific career

Hans-Jürgen Kirsch studied business administration from 1981 to 1986 at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster . He then worked as a research assistant until 1990 and as a research assistant at the Institute for Auditing from 1993 to 1999.

In 1989 he did his doctorate with Jörg Baetge on the equity method in consolidated financial statements . In 1999 the habilitation followed with the subject of the measurement of business administration overindebtedness and the award of the license to teach business administration by the economics faculty of the University of Münster.

From October 1999 to March 2000, Hans-Jürgen Kirsch worked in the administration of the professorship for corporate accounting at the University of Hanover . He then took on a professorship in Hanover and was head of the Chair of Accounting and Auditing and Director of the Institute for Corporate Accounting and Taxation until September 2005. Since September 2005 he has been director of the Institute for Accounting and Auditing at the University of Münster.

Hans-Jürgen Kirsch is a technical adviser to the journal Die Wirtschaftsprüfung and a member of the Accounting Interpretation Committee of the German Standardization Council .

Professional Activities

In 1990 Hans-Jürgen Kirsch took part in a project to analyze consolidated financial statements at Bayerische Vereinsbank . For Henkel from 1991 to 1993 he was a consultant / group representative in the area of ​​central controlling, external financial statements and internal reporting. In addition, in 1993 and 1994 he worked on an expert opinion on the valuation of two large corporations in the context of a judicial award procedure.

Research cooperation

Since 2000, Hans-Jürgen Kirsch has been holding regular joint doctoral seminars with the research team of Jörg Baetge (University of Münster) and the Chair of Accounting and Auditing of Lothar Schruff ( University of Göttingen ).
