Hans-Joachim Oelze (born January 3, 1937 ) is a former German soccer player. For SC Chemie Halle-Leuna , he played 17 games in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football , from 1957 to 1958 . In 1956 he won the GDR Cup with the SC Chemie. Oelze is a six-time young international player.

Athletic career

Even as a teenager, Hans-Joachim Oelze had successes in football. As a player in the company sports community (BSG) Empor Halle , he won the GDR youth championship in 1953 and the junior championship in 1955. In 1955 he was a member of the GDR junior national team, with which he played four international matches.

For the 1956 season Oelze was delegated from the BSG Empor Halle to the GDR Oberliga relegated SC Chemie Halle-Leuna. In the second-rate GDR league Oelze was used from the start, won a regular place as a left defender and was only missing in a point game. He was accepted into the squad of the GDR youth national team and was used in two youth international matches. The SC Chemie succeeded in the immediate resurgence and at the end of the season won the GDR soccer cup with Oelze, this time as a right-back.

In the big leagues it was harder for Oelze to assert himself. In the 26 league games of the 1957 season he was only used 15 times, but then played mostly in his regular position on the left side of the defense. In the first half of 1958 he was only used in two point games. In June the SC Chemie Halle-Leuna merged with the SC Wissenschaft Halle and then appeared as SC Chemie Halle. The football team of SC Wissenschaft, which had previously played in the GDR league, became the 2nd team of SC Chemie. Oelze was transferred there and played the remaining 14 league games and developed with nine goals to one of the most successful goal scorers of this team.

Since the first team was relegated again, Chemistry II also had to compete one class lower in the third-class II. GDR league . However, the sports club gave up the 2nd team and handed it over to the University Sports Association (HSG) Wissenschaft Halle, which had been founded a year earlier . Still playing with Oelze, the HSG won the season, but missed the return to the first GDR league in the promotion round. With the HSG, Oelze played in the second GDR league until the end of the 1961/62 season. After that, the team was relegated to the fourth-class district league , and there was no return to the higher-class football leagues for the 25-year-old Oelze.
