Hans-Joachim Rehmer

Hans-Joachim Rehmer (born May 18, 1937 ) is a former German diplomat . He was the GDR's ambassador to Pakistan .

Career

Rehmer passed his Abitur in 1956 and then studied at the Institute for International Relations in Moscow until 1962, where he graduated as a political scientist .

In 1963 he took up his position in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MfAA). From 1964 to 1965 he was an attaché at the embassy in Prague . From 1966 to 1968 he was the third secretary at the regional office in Bombay of the HV India. From 1968 to 1970 he worked as Vice Consul at the Consulate General of the GDR in Burma . From 1970 to 1972 he was deputy sector manager in the second AEA ( S-SOA ) in the MfAA. From 1972 to 1973 he worked as the second secretary and from 1973 to 1975 as the first secretary in the embassy of the GDR in India . After returning to headquarters, he was first secretary from 1975 to 1979 and from 1979 to 1988 sector manager in the S-SOA department of the GDR Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1983 he was appointed Counselor appointed. From 1984 to 1988 he was Ambassador to Pakistan and until 1990 Sector Head at the MfAA. In 1992/1993 he worked as head of the East Asia department at the German East Asia Institute in Berlin . He then worked as deputy head of the Asia Association in Berlin.
