Hans-Joachim Schlegel

Hans-Joachim Schlegel (born January 26, 1942 in Leipzig ; † October 30, 2016 in Berlin ) was a German film historian, critic and journalist specializing in Eastern and Central Europe, as well as a translator from Russian, Slovak, Czech, Polish and Ukrainian and Bulgarian (including Sergej Eisenstein's writings , Vol. 1–4 and Andrej Tarkovskij's The sealed time ). He has lectured at film schools and universities in Germany and abroad (especially interdisciplinary topics such as film and psychoanalysis , film and religion , film and music , film and architecture, and the forms and functions of documentaries and short films ) and published at home and abroad . Hans-Joachim Schlegel worked for festivals as a “scout” for Eastern European and post-Soviet films. He was also a member of numerous festival juries.
