Hans-Joachim Teich

Hans-Joachim Teich (born August 23, 1953 ) is a former German soccer player. For FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt he played in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

In 1971, 1.81 m tall defender Hans-Joachim Teich began his career at FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt. He first played with the 2nd team in the third-rate district league , with which he was district champion in 1972 and rose to the GDR league . In the following season, Teich was used both in the league team (13 missions, one goal) and in the GDR league team RWE II (nine point games, one goal). For the season 1973/74 Teich was officially nominated for the league team and also completed 22 point games, in which he mainly scored three goals in midfield. At the same time he was appointed to the squad of the GDR youth national team and played two youth internationals in September 1973. Until 1982, Teich remained a regular at FC Rot-Weiß, only in the 1976/77 and 1979/80 seasons he had longer absenteeism due to injury. In 1980 he got fit in time to take part in the cup final. With Teich as Libero , however, Erfurt lost 3-1 to FC Carl Zeiss Jena . Between May and November 1982 Teich had to interrupt his career because he was called up to serve as reservists in the National People's Army . After he had played most of his games in defense, he completed his last season in the GDR league in 1983/84 at the age of thirty, in which he was injured on the 16th matchday. In 1984/85 he played five GDR league games with the 2nd team and then ended his career at FC Rot-Weiß Erfurt. In 13 seasons Teich had come to 214 league games with seven goals at FC Rot-Weiß, and he played with the 2nd team 15 times in the GDR league, where he scored one goal. From the 1985/86 season he played four seasons in the GDR league for Motor Nordhausen . From 1985 to 1988 he was part of the player base without interruption and was called up 75 times in a total of 102 point games and scored five goals. In 1988/89 he completed his last season in higher-class football, in which he came again to 15 GDR league games (without a goal). He then let his football career end with the district division UT Erfurt .
