Hans-Martin Schenke (born April 25, 1929 in Oschersleben (Bode) , † September 4, 2002 in Berlin ) was a German Protestant theologian , New Testament scholar and Coptologist .

Life

He studied at Humboldt University since 1950 . After completing his doctorate ( the relationship between indicative and imperative in Paulus ) in the New Testament subject at HU Berlin as a Dr. theol. on April 14, 1956, the doctorate ( The Oracle in Ancient Egypt ) in Egyptology ibid for Dr. phil. on February 3, 1960 and his habilitation in the New Testament ( The God "Man" in Gnosis. A religious-historical contribution to the discussion of the Pauline view of the Church as the body of Christ ) on May 4, 1960, he first taught from 1960 as a lecturer , from 1964 until his retirement in 1994 as Professor of New Testament at the Theological Faculty of Humboldt University.
