Hans Olaf Henkel Prize - Prize for Science Policy

Hans-Olaf-Henkel-Preis - Prize for Science Policy is an award that was presented every two years from 2007 to 2013 by the Leibniz Association for outstanding achievements in promoting science in the Federal Republic of Germany.

The prize was intended to honor personalities who showed outstanding commitment to science and whose work led to better recognition of science in the public.

The award commemorated Hans-Olaf Henkel's tenure as President of the Leibniz Association from 2001 to 2005. It was endowed with prize money of 20,000 euros. The jury consisted of scientists, science administrators, business and media representatives. The jury was chaired by Joachim Treusch , President of Jacobs University Bremen .

The members of the Alliance of Science Organizations , the Working Group of Industrial Research Associations "Otto von Guericke" , Acatech - German Academy of Engineering Sciences , the scientific directors of the Leibniz Institutes and, if applicable, other members of the sections, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research were eligible to make nominations as well as the science ministries of the federal states.
