Crassula orbicularis is a species of plant from the genus thick leaf ( Crassula ). It is a floral element of the Capensis . The specific epithet orbicularis means 'circular, circular' ( Latin orbiculus ; reduction of orbis 'circle').

description

Crassula orbicularis grows like a rosette as a perennial plant with a height of 2 to 4 centimeters. Dense groups with a diameter of 30 to 50 centimeters are formed by lateral rungs . The short main shoots are often provided with sprouting, long and arched runners. The green leaves are 10 to 12 in dense rosettes with a diameter of up to 6 centimeters. The leaf blade is flat. The underside of the lanceolate leaves is purple in color. They become 30 to 45 millimeters long and 10 to 16 millimeters wide. The edges of the leaves are ciliate and the tip of the leaf is pointed.

The terminal inflorescence is formed by ascending, elongated thyrses with numerous dichasias and is up to 16 centimeters high. The flower stalks are 3 to 7 inches long. On the short, up to 1 millimeter long peduncle sits the short-tube corolla , which is 2 to 4 millimeters in diameter. The white tips are ovate to lanceolate and up to 3 millimeters long.

Crassula orbicularis is common in the South African provinces of Western Cape , Eastern Cape, and KwaZulu-Natal . The place of growth is in the shade of thickets. The flowering time extends from winter to midsummer.
