Act

His research and teaching focus included trade marketing , trade management, cooperation and concentration in trade, trade market research, trade psychology and domestic trade policy. Schenk is considered the initiator of the independent subject of trade marketing. The close mutual transfer of knowledge between science and practice served him primarily monthly "business talks" between commercial entrepreneurs and students (in cooperation with the Lower Rhine Chamber of Commerce Duisburg). The focus of his research was on empirical studies and reports for commercial enterprises, trade associations and chambers of industry and commerce. His teaching was regularly supplemented by excursions, guest lectures and guest lectures (e.g. in Japan, Estonia and Switzerland), occasionally also by photo work groups with employees and students. From 1994 to 2016 Schenk was the scientific curator of the Wolfgang Wirichs Foundation, Krefeld. In 1995 he took over the scientific management of the "Research Project Fruit Trade at the University of Duisburg". Since his retirement he has been working as a freelancer for the Rheinische Post and has so far contributed more than 2,000 local glosses to the Duisburg edition of the RP. (As of March 2019)
