Hans-Peter Berger (born April 2, 1956 in Salzburg ) is a former Austrian football goalkeeper .

Career

Berger was part of the Bundesliga squad of SV Austria Salzburg from the 1974/75 season . In February 1975 he made his debut in the Bundesliga when he came on as a substitute for Klaus Weidinger on the 19th matchday of that season against SK VÖEST Linz in the 38th minute when the score was 2-1 for Upper Austria . Berger received another goal in the second half, Austria Salzburg lost 3-2 on their debut. On the following match day he was also in the starting line-up for the first time against VÖEST Linz. In September 1976 Berger completed his first game in the UEFA Cup against Adanaspor .

With Austria Salzburg Berger rose in 1977 as bottom of the table from the top division. After a season in the second highest division, however, he rose again to the 1st division with the club. In total, Berger played 61 games in the top Austrian league in his twelve years with Austria Salzburg.

For the 1986/87 season he moved to the regional division USV Salzburg , which was renamed FC Salzburg in 1988 . With Salzburg he rose in 1987 as champion of the Regionalliga West in the 2nd division , in which he played with the club until they were relegated in 1989. In 1990, however, you could become champions again and rise again to the second highest league. In the promotion season 1989/90 Berger completed 17 games for the club in the Regionalliga. After a season in the 2nd division, however, the relegation to the third division followed. After the 1991/92 season Berger left the club and ended his career.
