Hans-Peter Lang

Hans-Peter Lang (* 1948 in Zurich ) is a Swiss bricklayer, site manager and social entrepreneur who founded and built up the turning point foundation for the unemployed and marginalized in the canton of Aargau from 1993 . In 2012 he was therefore voted Aargauer of the Year.

Life

Lang grew up in the canton of Zurich, trained as a bricklayer, then attended the construction school in Aarau and worked for 23 years as a cadre and manager in the construction industry. He is married to Margrit Fisler, they have two children and six grandchildren and live in Aarau.

Foundation turning point

In 1993, Lang gave up his secure job and set up the Wendpunkt Foundation in Rupperswil with start-up capital of just 1,000 Swiss francs for people who had no chance on the job market. Together they performed handicrafts such as painting, carpentry and carpentry. He was successful with it and was able to hire more people, found and develop businesses and organizations. Today around 600 employees work for the Wendpunkt Foundation at various locations in the canton of Aargau, such as Aarau , Buchs , Rothrist , Wettingen and Muhen , where the largest company building is today. The social enterprise has an annual turnover of 24 million Swiss francs. From 2008 to 2013 he gradually handed over the management of the Wendpunkt Foundation, the School for Social Management and the Drehpunkt HR company to his son Sascha. Today he is only a delegate of the Board of Trustees.

Lang was voted Aargau of the Year in 2012. He is a member of the Aarau Salvation Army , President of the Association of Christian Institutions of Social Work (CISA) and President of the Swiss Social Firms Working Group (ASSOF). He gives lectures on social diakonia and spiritual topics such as prayer all over Switzerland.
