Hans-Rudolf Hagemann

Hans-Rudolf Hagemann (born November 19, 1927 in Basel ; † November 17, 2018 there ) was a Swiss legal historian and publisher .

life and work

Hans-Rudolf Hagemann studied law at the University of Basel from 1947 to 1951 . During this time he joined the Swiss Zofinger Association . In 1951, he was with a dissertation on the position of Piae Causae (religious endowments) to the Codex Justinian doctorate . In 1956 his habilitation followed with the thesis "Dingliche Rechtsfiguren im Lichtelicher Medieval Documents" (unpublished). From 1957 to 1962 he worked as a private lecturer for legal history at the University of Basel, from 1962 to 1964 he was a full professor for legal history at the University of Erlangen . From 1965 until his retirement in 1991, he held the same position at the University of Basel.

In addition, Hagemann was the publisher of the National-Zeitung and from 1977 after its merger with the Basler Nachrichten of the resulting Basler Zeitung . In 2010, he and his family sold their shares in the media company to a group of investors.

Hagemann died on November 17, 2018 after a brief illness.
