Hans Altwegg

Hans Altwegg (born May 15, 1882 ; † June 3, 1942 in Zurich ; legal domicile in Frauenfeld ) was a Swiss chemist .

Life

After attending school, Hans Altwegg went to the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich to study chemistry. He received his doctorate from the University of Neuchâtel . He then worked as a chemist for the Società Prodotti Chimici Colla e Concimi in Rome in 1908/09 . After two years of private studies, Hans Altwegg became a chemist at the Société chimique des usines du Rhône in 1911 . He worked there until 1928 before moving to Freiburg im Breisgau , where he became director and board member of the German Acetat-Kunstseiden Aktiengesellschaft "Rhodiaseta", founded in 1927, which became known for its Perlon production from 1949 and later in what is now the French pharmaceutical company Sanofi has risen. He was instrumental in setting up the acetate and rayon production and building up the plant. From 1933 onwards, Hans Altwegg was no longer a member of the board and returned to Zurich. He died as a result of an operation .
