He came from the Thuringian noble family von Seebach , of whom a sideline had settled in the Electoral Palatinate in the 18th century and settled there. At the Kurpfälzer Hof he embarked on one of the typical aristocratic careers, first becoming chamberlain and then chamberlain.

Hans August von Seebach was lent several of his male relatives' estates in Thuringia and Saxony.

Hans August von Seebach spent the last years of his life on his manor in Storndorf, where he developed into an uncomfortable contemporary. He litigated the Landgrave of Hesse because of his burning justice, in which he felt restricted. In addition, he sued the community of Storndorf several times, for example because of alleged interference with his hat and drift rights and because of the wood deliveries.

He left his son George Philipp von Seebach, who inherited his property in Storndorf. But his son had little interest in remaining in the Electoral Palatinate, but went back to Thuringia in 1792, where he took over an estate in Kammerforst .

Hans August von Seebach was married to Sophia Catharina von Seebach. The daughter Anna Dorothea Clara von Bünau emerged from the marriage. Most recently he was married to Wilhelmine Elisabetha nee Fleckmühl called Bürgel.
