Hans Beltz

Hans Beltz (born January 23, 1897 in Bützow , † September 24, 1977 in West Berlin ) was a German pianist and music teacher .

Live and act

Beltz, the son of an organist, studied piano and music education in Leipzig with Robert Teichmüller and Stephan Krehl .

During the National Socialist era , he had been a member of the National Socialist factory cell organization since 1933 . From 1934 he was a professor at the Academy for Church and School Music in Berlin-Charlottenburg . In 1939 he was drafted into the Wehrmacht for a short time , but then postponed as essential . In 1940 he was awarded the Reich capital's music prize.

In August 1944 he was included in the " Gottbegnadeten-Liste " approved by Adolf Hitler under the heading of the most important pianists, which freed him from war obligations.

From 1952 until his retirement in 1962 he worked as a professor at the Berlin Music Academy .
