life and work

Hans Berchtenbreiter was born in Augsburg in 1929. At the age of 22 he passed the master's examination as a goldsmith and silversmith. Finally he attended the Werkschule in Münster and studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich with Franz Rickert . After long stays in Switzerland, Landshut and Munich, he returned to Augsburg in 1985.

The designs of the Augsburg jewelry and object designer convince through their consistent design and impressive objectivity, because he works with elementary shapes such as line, circle, square and triangle. The jewelry should not be a decorative ornament for the body, but the forms should stand for themselves and act.

Hans Berchtenbreiter was accepted into the Foundation for Concrete Art and Design in Ingolstadt in 2008.
