Franz Rickert (born January 9, 1904 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † January 1, 1991 ) was a German gold and silversmith and professor of goldsmithing at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich .

Life

Franz Rickert, son of the philosopher Heinrich Rickert (1863–1936), studied gold and silversmith's apprenticeship with Adolf von Mayrhofer at the State School for Applied Arts in Munich, passed the master's examination in 1931 and then became head of the goldsmithing class himself Munich School. In 1938 he received a professorship at the Academy for Applied Arts in Munich. In 1946, after the two Munich academies were merged, he continued his professorship at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts . Rickert ended his teaching activity in 1972. His former student Hermann Jünger followed .

In 1933 he received the first golden ring of honor from the Society for Goldsmithing .
