Hans Besold

Hans Besold (born July 18, 1893 in Kulmbach ; † February 2, 1974 ) was a German electrical engineer .

Education

Hans Besold studied electrical engineering at the Technical University of Munich until the outbreak of war in 1914. He was dismissed before the end of the war because of a serious injury, worked temporarily at Siemens-Schuckertwerke and continued his studies in Karlsruhe . During his studies in 1918 he became a member of the Karlsruhe fraternity Germania .

December 1919, after completing his studies, he began to work as a switch engineer in the switchgear in Berlin . He later became plant manager of the small building to which he had transferred in 1935. In 1941 he returned to the switchgear and took over management. Besold experienced the partial destruction and 1945 the dismantling of the plant. The reconstruction took place under his direction.

Besold was a general representative of Siemens-Schuckert-Werke. Numerous publications and patents stem from his 40 years at Siemens.

Associations

Besold was involved in the VDE , the Central Association of the Electrical Industry and the German Standards Committee , and was a member and sometimes chairman of several committees. 1956 to 1962 was chairman of the technical standards committee for electrical engineering.

Besold was one of the founders of the Berlin Electrotechnical Association after the Second World War. On his 65th birthday he was made an honorary member.
