Hans Bokelmann

Hans Bokelmann (born March 10, 1931 ; † July 8, 2016 in Münster ) was a German educationalist and professor at the University of Münster .

Life

Bokelmann received his doctorate from Wilhelm Flitner in Hamburg in 1956 , became an assistant to Hans Scheuerl and completed his habilitation in 1963 at the University of Erlangen . There he taught first as a lecturer for business education , then at the University of Frankfurt from 1966. From 1970 to 1996 he held a chair for general educational science in Münster.

Bokelmann has represented a wide range of topics in research and teaching based on vocational education. He was also interested in contemporary art and was a collector. His definition of education in 1970 is well known.

"Education is ... that action in which the older (educator) the younger (educated) within the framework of certain ideas about life ( educational norms ) and under specific circumstances (educational conditions) as well as with certain tasks (educational content) and measures (educational methods) with the intention of a change (Educational effects) help to lead one's own life in such a way that the younger ones experience the actions of the older ones as necessary support for their own existence, learn to judge them critically and learn to continue "( Education, Educational Science .
