Hans Scheuerl

Hans Scheuerl (born January 17, 1919 in Berlin ; † May 5, 2004 in Hamburg ) was Professor of Education .

Career

Scheuerl completed his habilitation in 1957 under Wilhelm Flitner at the University of Hamburg . After a call to the University of Education in Osnabrück in 1959, he worked in Erlangen and Frankfurt am Main .

From 1969 to 1987 he worked in the Department of Education at the University of Hamburg and built it up from 1969 to 1973 as a designer and dean .

Hans Scheuerl devoted himself to fundamental areas of educational science in his publications. In particular, his studies on play and on "exemplary teaching" stimulated discussions in his subject. He also dealt with aspects of other specialist areas, such as peace and sex education , as well as aspects of biological anthropology , psychoanalysis and religious education . Another focus of his work was the work of Jan Amos Comenius . From 1965 to 1969 he was a member of the Advisory Board of the Friedrich Naumann Foundation .

Hans Scheuerl was co-editor of the magazine Pädagogik and from 1968 to 1972 chairman of the German Society for Educational Science and a member of the school committee of the West German Rectors' Conference .

Private

Hans Scheuerl was the father of the Hamburg lawyer and initiator of the Hamburg citizens' initiative We want to learn Walter Scheuerl .
