Hans Brecht

Hans Brecht (* 1923 in Hamburg ; † January 24, 2007 there ) was a German journalist, editor and director.

Life

Brecht studied law (1946 to 1950) and then worked in the USA Consulates General in Bad Godesberg and Hamburg.

From 1961 he worked in the main television department of NDR , from 1963 deputy head of the documentary filmmaker department (“Operation Gomorrah”, “Defeated, liberated, occupied”) and interviewer for numerous well-known filmmakers.

He was also head of the film and theater editorial team at NDR television. His 1983 documentary, Operation Gomorrah, about the destruction of Hamburg in 1943 , was widely received.

He was involved in the production of numerous other documentaries. In 1988 he retired.
