Hans Dolinar

Hans Dolinar (born February 5, 1940 in Vienna ; † April 18, 2020 ) was an Austrian business lawyer and university professor.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1958, Hans Dolinar studied law at the University of Vienna and the French language at the Institute for Interpreting Training. Since 1960 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KÖStV Nibelungia Vienna in the ÖCV . In 1963 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD and legal internship at the District Court for Commercial Matters in Vienna and at the Upper Austrian District Court. After completing his military service in the Austrian Armed Forces, Dolinar studied economics at the Vienna University of World Trade (now the University of Economics). In 1967 he became a university assistant in Linz and in 1974 he completed his habilitation at the University of Linz.

In 1975, Dolinar was appointed associate professor of civil procedural law. In 1983 he was appointed full professor for civil procedural law at the University of Linz. From 1983 to 1988 he was rector of the University of Linz.

In 1991 he was visiting professor at Harvard Law School, in 1998 a visiting professor at Georgia State University, and in 2004 and 2006 at Duke University School of Law. Between 1999 and 2007, Dolinar was visiting scholar at Columbia Law School, Harvard Law School, Duke Law School, New York University Law School, and the Law School of the University of San Diego.

He has published numerous articles, particularly on procedural law. His book on the Austrian non-dispute procedure is the standard work of teaching.
