Life

Hans Erich Riedel studied marine engineering and mathematics / physics at the University of Rostock from 1957 to 1963 . Until 1968 he worked as a training officer for merchant shipping on the cargo and training ships "Theodor Körner" and "JG Fichte" , teaching mathematics, physics, nautical specialist knowledge and nautical materials science. From 1968 to 1984 he was an aspirant and assistant / senior assistant at the physics section of the University of Rostock. He spent a research stay in Debrecen , Hungary . In 1972 he received his doctorate on measurement technology for physics lessons in high schools .

1979 followed the habilitation on theory and practice of the design of curricula and framework guidelines in the field of thermodynamics for high schools. From 1984 to 1992 he was a lecturer in physics didactics at the University of Rostock. From 1990 to 1992 he was chairman of the Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Framework Directive Commission for Physics. In 1992 he was appointed professor for physics education at the Institute for Physics at the University of Rostock. From 2003 to 2004 he was Dean of Studies at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences at the University of Rostock. From 1999 to 2005 he was visiting the Havana University of Education and the University of Havana , Cuba for six to eight weeks a year .

Riedel published books and book chapters for teaching physics in schools. He published articles in magazines on the subjects of experiments in physics lessons, the relationship between physics and technology, treatment of selected contents of physics lessons, knowledge methods in physics lessons, teaching aids for physics teachers, problems in physics lessons in Havana (Cuba).

He was involved in the model experiment in education "Interdisciplinary use of customizable software tools", a joint project of the federal states of Bremen and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, and in the model experiment "Online learning modules for studying physics as a minor subject".
