Hans Flick

Hans Flick (born August 28, 1927 in Wuppertal ; † November 30, 2015 in Kalenborn ) was a German lawyer. In 1972 he founded the law firm Flick Gocke Schaumburg in Bonn together with Rudolf Gocke and was a founding partner and name partner until his death.

For many years, Hans Flick has been one of the most prominent lawyers for international tax law and business succession issues in Germany.

Education and career

After the Second World War , which he experienced as an air force helper and later a prisoner of war , he studied law and political science and did his doctorate with Prof. Dr. Armin Spitaler at the University of Cologne on foreign tax law in Great Britain. The dissertation was incorporated into German law as a provision for the crediting of foreign taxes.

After a position as finance and government assessor in the financial administration in Lüdinghausen , he became a member of the “Finance and Taxes” department in 1961 at what was then the German Industry and Trade Conference (DIHT), and in 1978 he took over the management. In 1988 he also became deputy director of the DIHT.

From 1972 he built up the law firm Flick Gocke Schaumburg, first in Bonn and then in Berlin and Frankfurt. In addition, Flick conveyed his knowledge as a newspaper author in an understandable way for laypeople, is the founder-publisher of a tax magazine and donor of the Hans Flick Prize for the Promotion of Young Scientists, which has been awarded since 2002.
