from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hans "Hanne" Frenzel (born December 17, 1928 in Rastenburg ; † February 13, 2020 in Berlin ) was a German ice hockey player and coach who went on the ice for a total of seven seasons for SC Dynamo Berlin . Frenzel was known as the “Dynamo's man from the very beginning”.

Career

Frenzel began playing ice hockey at the age of 13 in his homeland at Rastenburger SV as a defender . There he took part in the final round of pupils in Garmisch-Partenkirchen , which was also the goal of his escape from Masuria during the Second World War in 1944. Due to a lack of work, he came to Donauwörth , where he met his father and later the family again, who a short time later moved to Zerbst in Saxony-Anhalt for the “National Reconstruction Organization” . Due to his involvement with the local traffic police, he read an advertisement looking for ice hockey athletes for Berlin , for whom he then drove to the capital for test training. Frenzel was hired and was henceforth on the ice next to the then well-known players like Wolfgang Nickel or Heinz Strietzel . A year after his first appearance on the Berlin ice, the trained defender made his debut in the national team on December 25, 1951.

Due to a decision by the government, Frenzel was delegated to Weißwasser in 1952 , for which he was able to win four championships between 1954 and 1957. Since his family still lived in Berlin and his son Dieter was born in 1955 , Hans Frenzel moved back to his new home, where he acted as player-coach for SC Dynamo Berlin for the 1957/58 season. Although he never won the German championship with the club, he was able to record three cup wins. The trained businessman ended his career in 1965, caught up with his degree and from then on acted as a mentor and sponsor for his son, who developed into a talented young player. In Frenzel's career, there were seven seasons for SC Dynamo Berlin, in which he played a total of 104 games and scored 76 goals. In addition, he came to 61 international matches and three A-World Cup appearances for the national team.

Engagement after the sporting career

After completing his sporting career, Frenzel was integrated into the Hohenschönhausen jury. Most recently, the business economist was an honorary member of the Eisbären Berlin and, along with his son, a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame Germany . On the occasion of his 75th birthday, he received the DEB gold pin of honor in 2003 .
