Hans Gelderblom

Hans Gelderblom (born March 18, 1879 in Steele , † September 22, 1966 in Minden ) was a German builder .

Life

As the son of the main teacher Friedrich Gelderblom, Hans Gelderblom attended elementary and high school in Steele and Mönchengladbach . He then studied at the Technical Universities of Darmstadt and Charlottenburg . In Darmstadt he and fellow students founded the local Wingolf . In 1907 the Dip.-Ing. Hans Gelderblom appointed government architect after passing the state examination .

Hans Gelderblom entered the Prussian civil service with positions in the building construction administrations in Hersfeld and Schubin . From 1910 to 1915 he worked in the police headquarters in Berlin and then headed the state building department in Genthin . In 1927, as a government building officer, he took over the management of the building construction department at the government in Minden , and later, as senior government and building officer, he was assigned the general department for all construction, including monument preservation and the new nature conservation department. He was also responsible for the structural maintenance of the Minden Cathedral . In 1935 he joined the supervisory board of the Ravensberger Heimstättengesellschaft in Bielefeld. In 1946 he retired.

As a retiree, Hans Gelderblom fully committed himself to the reconstruction of the destroyed Minden Cathedral and took over the management of the building committee of the Minden Cathedral Building Association , which was founded in 1946 , whereby his connections to the state authorities were of great advantage. Due to his merits, the Minden History and Museum Association made him an honorary member in 1962 and awarded him his highest honor, the Nicolaus Meyer Medal, on his 85th birthday in 1964. At the same time he was awarded the ring of honor of the city of Minden . He was the first to wear the ring. In 1954 he was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit 1st Class .

In addition, Hans Gelderblom was involved in the Evangelical Church of Westphalia . From 1948 to 1954 he was presbyter of the Simeon parish in Minden. From 1949 to 1961 he was a member of the Synodal Board of the Inner Mission . He was also a member of the Office for Church Construction and Church Art of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia.
