Hans Hohlwein

Hans Hohlwein (born November 23, 1902 in Danzig ; † April 29, 1996 in Solingen ) was a German Protestant theologian and German-Christian- oriented senior consistorial councilor of the German Evangelical Church (DEK).

Life

Hohlwein studied Protestant theology and was ordained pastor in 1927 . He became a licentiate in theology and obtained a doctorate in philosophy .

From 1934 to 1937 Hohlwein was director of studies of the preacher's seminary of the Thuringian Protestant Church . In 1939 he declared his collaboration with the Institute for Research and Elimination of the Jewish Influence on German Church Life . In the same year he was appointed senior consistorial councilor in the DEK church chancellery.

After 1945 worked Hohlwein as a theological laborers in the provost Halberstadt , from 1947 to 1951 he managed the parish Heudeber in the Church Province of Saxony .

In 1951 he moved to the Federal Republic of Germany.

Services

Hohlwein was the author of numerous articles in the third edition of the standard theological work The Religion in Past and Present . At an advanced age he wrote books on people from the history of the 18th and 19th centuries.
