Hans Ils

Hans Ils (born May 12, 1906 in Weißenhorn , † March 25, 1988 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) was a social democratic politician and resistance fighter against National Socialism .

Life

While studying law at the University of Berlin , the son of a shopkeeper joined the SPD and the socialist student body in 1928 . In 1931 he joined the left branch of the Socialist Workers' Party of Germany (SAPD), and after the NSDAP came to power, Ils was involved in organizing the underground work of the SAPD in Berlin. Arrested by the Gestapo in December 1933 , Ils was sentenced to two years in prison in 1934. After his release from prison he worked as an employee until 1942 and was drafted into the armed forces in 1943, but was not "fit for front use" for health reasons.

In 1946 Ils rejoined the SPD and worked as an assistant to an auditor and completed a degree in economics at Humboldt University, which he completed with a doctorate. From 1950 to 1953 he worked for the Federal Railroad , then he built up the economic department on the IG Metall board and was Labor Director at Klöckner-Werke from 1955 to 1971 .

From 1965 to 1969 Ils was a member of the Bundestag .
