Hans Jürgen Richter

Hans Jürgen Richter (born November 11, 1948 in Chemnitz ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1990 to 1999 he was a member of the state parliament of Saxony .

Richter attended the extended secondary school in Chemnitz, where he graduated from high school. After training as a mechanical engineer, Richter graduated from the Chemnitz University of Technology with a specialization in physics. After graduating in 1972, he worked in research and development in an engineering office until 1990. From 1975 to 1989 he was union shop steward and works council chairman in his company. He was a member of the human rights working group and chairman of the citizens' committee for the dissolution of the MfS in the Chemnitz district.

He has been a member of the SPD since January 1990. He was a member of the state party committee. In the first two electoral terms he was a member of the state parliament of Saxony from 1990 to 1999. There he was treasurer of the SPD parliamentary group and also spokesman for labor market policy.
