Hans Jessen (Hunter)

Hans Jessen (born April 11, 1910 in Ellund , † October 18, 1996 in Steinfeld in the fishing area ) was a German hunter and hunting historian from Lindaunis , Schleswig-Holstein.

Hans Jessen was born as the eldest son of the teacher Jens Jessen. After attending primary and secondary school, he studied at the Pedagogical Academy in Kiel and passed his first state examination in 1933 and his second state examination in 1936. From 1933 to 1975 he worked as a teacher, interrupted by military service and captivity from 1939 to 1949. From 1950 to 1975 he was head of the elementary school in Lindau (Schleswig) . Since 1954 he was a member of the state board and press officer of the Schleswig-Holstein state association of the German teachers' association.

Jessen was an active hunter. Since 1953 he helped to build up the Schleswig hunters' association and was then its district chairman. He was involved in various federal and state working groups of the German Hunting Protection Association . Jessen was also responsible for research on hunting history in the state of Schleswig-Holstein.
