Glenn Shafer

Glenn Shafer (born November 21, 1946 in Caney , Kansas ) is an American mathematician who co-founded the Dempster-Shafer theory by developing Arthur Pentland Dempster's approaches to the generalization of Bayesian statistics .

Shafer studied at Princeton University , where he obtained an Artium Baccalaureus in Mathematics and a Ph.D. in mathematical statistics . He then taught at Princeton University before moving to the Faculty of Mathematics at the University of Kansas in 1976 . In 1984 Shafer began teaching economics there and in 1992 moved to the Rutgers Business School - Newark and New Brunswick .
