Hans Joachim Herrmann (born October 2, 1931 in Zittau ) is a German ancient historian .

Hans Joachim Herrmann passed his Abitur in 1950 and initially studied chemistry at the University of Leipzig until 1951 . For health reasons, however, he had to change the subject and began studying history, which he completed in 1954 as a graduate historian. He moved to the University of Greifswald , where he became a research assistant at the historical institute.
