Hans Jobst Pleitner (born June 5, 1935 in Osnabrück ) is emeritus professor for business administration in small and medium-sized enterprises at the University of St. Gallen and full-time professor for entrepreneurial management at the Steinbeis University in Berlin .

Life

Hans Jobst Pleitner took over a professorship for entrepreneurial management at the Steinbeis University Berlin (based in Berlin and Stuttgart) after many years as full professor for business administration in SMEs at the University of St. Gallen and director of the local SME institute . He works there at bachelor, master and doctoral level (including for the "Executive MBA" study program he founded), as well as for editorial boards of international journals in the field of SME / entrepreneurship. As an honorary member of the Steering Committee of the International Small Business Congress (Tokyo) and as holder of the Wilford-L. White Award from the International Council for Small Business (Washington, DC) and as a member of numerous professional organizations, he has a global communications network in the field of entrepreneurship. He was visiting professor at the Vienna University of Economics and Business and the University of Freiburg / Switzerland and spent research semesters at Kansai University, Osaka / Japan, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore, and the University of Central Florida, Orlando. In 2008, inspired by his experience in the practice of SMEs, he created the Professor Pleitner Prize for socially committed entrepreneurship, which has been awarded twice so far.
