Hans Jurk

Erich Otto Hans Jurk (born July 25, 1920 in Rauno near Senftenberg , † February 22, 2002 in Berlin ) was a German painter, graphic artist and caricaturist. He signed his works with Jurk Lauten .

Life

After completing primary school and training as a butcher, he was drafted into the Wehrmacht in 1941 . After being seriously wounded in the summer of 1942, he was released in 1944. From 1946 to 1950 Jurk studied at the University of Applied Arts in Berlin-Weißensee. The degree took place with a diploma. He was a student with Gustav Hilpert, Arno Mohr and Horst Strempel, among others.

Jurk portrayed and worked in graphics, painting, etching and watercolor. From 1953 he was a freelance graphic artist with Junge Welt. He also created caricatures for “Berliner Zeitung”, “Handelswoche”, “Bauernecho”, “Eulenspiegel” and other publications in the GDR.
