Hans Löber
Hans Löber (born April 4, 1900 in Neidhartshausen , Rhön ; † January 27, 1978 in Wertheim ) was a German glass physicist and founder of the Wertheim Glass Museum .
Life
Löber grew up in Ilmenau, Thuringia, as the eldest child of a pastor. He studied physics in Jena . After receiving his doctorate , he worked at the Physikalisch-Technische Reichsanstalt in Berlin . In 1928 he took over the management of the state college for glass instrument technology in Ilmenau. In 1930 he joined the management of the Thuringian glass instrument factory Alt, Eberhardt and Jäger and became its managing director in 1934. Then he switched to the glass calibration office. In the Soviet occupation zone he was sentenced to several months in prison. Due to the political situation, he fled to the West in 1949 and settled in Wertheim. With Carl Zitzmann and the brothers Dr. Friedrichs and Rudolf Brand founded the glassworks there, and from 1949 to 1968 was managing partner of the Wertheim glassworks , which became famous for its laboratory glass production (today DWK Life Sciences ).
He was a co-founder of the Wertheim Federal College for Glass Instrument Technology and also called the Ilse Reinhart Foundation into being, which has been called the Ilse Reinhart Löber Foundation since 1999 . From 1959 to 1971 he was a councilor for the CDU in Wertheim. In 1976 he founded the Wertheim Glass Museum. Löber became an honorary citizen of the city of Wertheim in 1975.
