geography

Neidhartshausen is located in the Thuringian Vorderrhön between Dermbach and Kaltennordheim . The federal highway 285 touches the place and is part of the Deutsche Alleenstraße . The Felda flows through the village .

history

The first documentary mention comes from the year 956.

The place used to be the seat of the Counts of Nithardeshusen . These were built in the 11th century above the village on the western slope of the Neuberg massif at approx. 500  m above sea level. NHN a tower hill castle (Motte), with an oval plateau of approx. 4.5 × 12 meters. The semicircular wall-ditch system is approximately 90 meters long. It is about 6 meters from the bottom of the trench to the plateau. About 500 meters north is the later main castle Oberhaus (also called Old Castle or Burg Neuberg) slightly higher than the Spornburg. The wall-trench system around the main castle (approx. 20 × 40 meters) and two section trenches have been preserved. The third part of the castle (lower house) is assumed to be an area called “Auf der Burg”. This is located directly on the edge of the village, slightly elevated to the Neuberg massif near the sports field.

The noble family was mentioned for the last time in 1268. Then the place belonged to the office Fischberg . The first church is believed to have existed from the 15th century and a new one was built in its place in 1722.

In 1631 there were 59 houses. In 1868 a village fire destroyed 4 houses as well as 14 barns , stables and outbuildings. In 1904 the village was connected to the water supply network, in 1907 to the electricity network. In another fire in 1911, 10 barns and other buildings went up in flames. When the ruins of the fire were demolished, master mason Mess discovered an important treasure trove of coins. It consisted of 123 large and 753 small silver coins, most of which were minted in the 17th century.

On January 1, 2019, the Neidhartshausen community was incorporated into Dermbach. Before that she belonged to the administrative community Dermbach .

The village church in the center of the village dates from 1722. Above the entrance door is the coat of arms of the Fulda abbot Konstantin von Buttlar, who was in office during the construction of the church . The organ installed by Georg Markert from Ostheim in 1856 is a rarity. A row of half-timbered houses up to 400 years old are grouped around the church. As an important bat quarter , the church is designated as an FFH property .
