Steinberg is a district of Dermbach in the Wartburg district in Thuringia .

Steinberg is the highest place in the Wartburg district, the geographical height of the place is 613  m above sea level. NN . Steinberg lies in a depression between the southwest slope of the Steinkopf mountain ( 694  m above sea level ) and the southern slope of the Zeller Kopf ( 693.8  m above sea level ) in the Kuppenrhön , about three kilometers (as the crow flies) southwest of Dermbach and 15 kilometers south-southwest the district town of Bad Salzungen .

history

The hamlet was first mentioned on November 22nd, 1220.

It belonged for centuries to the Office Fischberg which temporarily owned by the Lords of Neidhartshausen , the Lords of Frankenstein , the Counts of Henneberg -Schleusingen, the monastery of Fulda , various Ernestine duchies and finally in 1815 the Grand Duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach was .

On January 1, 2019, Steinberg came to the municipality of Dermbach as part of the incorporation of Brunnhartshausen .
