Oberalba ( Rhöner Platt : Öberall) is a district of the municipality of Dermbach (Dermich) in the southwestern part of the Wartburg district in the Free State of Thuringia ( Germany ).

The place Oberalba is located in the Thuringian Rhön , about fourteen kilometers (as the crow flies) southwest of the district town of Bad Salzungen and about two kilometers west of the main town Dermbach.
Mountains and waters
Oberalba is located at the southern foot of the Emberg ( 541.9 m above sea level ), which is a southwest branch of the Baier mountain ( 713.9 m ), south-west of Oberalba is the Sachsenburg mountain ( 720.9 m ).
The Albabach, a four kilometer long orographically left tributary of the Felda , rises on the outskirts.
history
Oberalba was first mentioned on May 10, 1183 as "Albaha". It belonged for centuries to the Office Fischberg which temporarily owned by the Lords of Neidhartshausen , the Lords of Frankenstein , the Counts of Henneberg -Schleusingen, the monastery of Fulda , various Ernestine duchies and finally in 1815 the Grand Duchy of Saxe-Weimar-Eisenach was .
Oberalba was affected by the persecution of witches from 1631 to 1706 . Eight women were caught in witch trials , three died under torture and in custody. 60-year-old Barbara Hartung, mother of nine, was charged with alleged witchcraft on charges of lice making . She withstood the worst torture, did not confess, and was released in 1698.
In 1955 there were 335 inhabitants.
church
The Protestant church in Oberalba was built in 1665. The church consists of half-timbered houses, with four arched windows on each side. The tower with the Welscher dome is covered with slate. It is the smallest half-timbered church in southern Thuringia.
Culture and sights
societies
In Oberalba there is the Rhönklub Zweigverein Oberalba e. V. and the Oberalba Fire Brigade Association. There is a private weather station with a webcam in the village .
Natural monuments
The "Sachsenburg" nature reserve is located southwest of the town and has a size of 50.5 hectares. It was expelled on March 23, 1961.
